Journal Entries: We collect the mood data, text entries, and timestamps you provide when using the journal features of the app. This data is stored locally on your device.
Data for Insights: To generate personalized insights, anonymized or aggregated portions of your journal entries (mood, text snippets, timestamps) are sent securely to a third-party AI service (Google Gemini via AIProxy). We only send the necessary data to generate the insight and do not include personally identifiable information in this process unless it's explicitly part of your journal text, which we advise against including.
Usage Data: We collect anonymous usage data such as app opens, feature usage, and crash reports through Apple App Analytics. This information helps us improve the app's functionality and user experience.
Device Information: Basic device information such as device type and OS version may be collected for debugging and ensuring compatibility.

2. How We Use Your Information

To Provide App Functionality: Your journal entries are used to display your history, charts, and allow you to reflect on past entries.
To Generate Insights: We use the data sent to the AI service to provide you with personalized summaries, patterns, and actionable advice within the app.
To Improve the App: Usage data helps us understand how users interact with the app, identify areas for improvement, and enhance the overall experience.
To Provide Customer Support: If you contact us for support, we may use information you provide to assist you.

3. Data Sharing and Disclosure

AI Service Provider: As mentioned, data is shared with Google Gemini (via the AIProxy service) solely for the purpose of generating insights within the app. These services have their own privacy policies regarding data handling. We strive to use services committed to data privacy and security.
No Other Third-Party Sharing: We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personally identifiable journal entry data to outside parties, except as necessary to provide the AI insight feature or comply with the law (e.g., legal requests, enforcing site policies, protecting rights or safety).
Aggregated/Anonymized Data: We may share aggregated or anonymized usage data (that cannot identify you) for analysis or marketing purposes.

4. Data Storage and Security

Local Storage: Your primary journal data (moods, full text entries, timestamps) is stored locally on your device using Core Data.
Security Measures: We implement reasonable security measures to protect your data on the device and during transmission to the AI service (e.g., using secure connections like HTTPS). However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
AI Service Data: Data sent to the AI service for insights is processed according to their security and privacy practices. We do not store the insights themselves long-term outside of your device's local storage.

5. Your Choices and Rights

Access and Correction: You can access and modify your journal entries directly within the app.
Data Deletion: You can delete individual entries within the app. Deleting the app from your device will remove all locally stored journal data.
Disabling Insights: You can choose to disable the AI Insights feature in the app's settings, which will prevent data from being sent to the AI service.

6. Children's Privacy

VibeJot is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that a child has provided us with personal information, we will take steps to delete such information.

7. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the app or on our website. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
